Food to Mood

Frequently asked questions

Honest answers, including the ones that are simply “no”. If something here is unclear, email us and we will fix the wording.

Does Food to Mood count calories?

No. There are no calorie targets, macro goals, portion scores, or food grades. You photograph a meal and later record how you felt. Nothing you eat is rated good or bad.

Do I need an account?

No. The app can keep your journal under a random identifier created on your device. You may sign in with Apple, Google, or an emailed one-time code if you want the journal and Premium access to follow you to another device; Clerk handles that optional account.

What happens to my meal photos?

Only the photos you choose are uploaded. They are kept with the meal so your journal stays complete, and they are never used for anything but your own forecasts. Deleting a single meal removes its photo at the same time, and “Reset local data” erases your journal from your device and our API.

How long after eating should I check in?

A couple of hours. That is long enough for how a meal landed to show up as energy, digestive comfort, or heaviness, and soon enough that you still remember what you ate. The reminder is scheduled locally on your phone, and a late check-in is still a useful one.

How accurate is the forecast?

Treat it as an estimate, not a measurement. It is a guess made from a photograph, it can be wrong, and the Terms say so plainly. The dependable half of your journal is the other half: what you ate, and how you said you felt afterwards.

Can it tell me which food causes my afternoon slump?

No. It records that a meal and a later self-report happened together — an association, not a cause. Sleep, workload, stress, caffeine, movement, and meal timing all sit in between, and the app records none of them. What it can do is show you which of your own meals keep turning up alongside your steadier afternoons, and leave the conclusion to you.

Is this an IBS, FODMAP, or food-sensitivity app?

No. Food to Mood is a general wellness journal, not a medical device. It does not diagnose, treat, prevent, or manage IBS, food intolerance, or any other condition, and it offers no FODMAP or elimination protocol. If a symptom persists or you suspect an intolerance, please see a qualified professional.

When do personal insights appear?

After at least three completed check-ins. That means later forecasts draw on more of your own history — not that a pattern has been proven or a cause identified. The app can describe what your log contains. It cannot tell you why.

Does Food to Mood cost anything?

Meal analysis, later check-ins, and reminders are part of Food to Mood Premium, an optional subscription. Pricing is not settled and there is no store listing yet, so there is nothing to buy today. This answer will carry the exact terms once the app is submitted.

Is Food to Mood available to download?

Not yet. It is still in development: there is no App Store listing, no public beta, and no waitlist, so there is deliberately nothing here to click. This answer will be updated when that changes.

Does this website use cookies or analytics?

No. This site sets no cookies and runs no analytics, advertising, or tracking scripts. The only script served on any page is the structured data that describes the page to search engines.

Is any of this medical advice?

No. Food to Mood is a general wellness journal. Its forecasts are estimates and its check-ins are your own description of how you felt. Nothing in the app or on this site is medical advice, a diagnosis, or a treatment plan. For anything to do with your health or your diet, talk to a doctor or a dietitian.
